RWTH Aachen ITAProgram Details:
  • Program Dates: Anytime between July and February
Undertake a unique industry placement with one of the largest institutes within RWTH Aachen, the Institute of Textile Technology (ITA)! The focus areas are (technical) textiles, chemical fiber, textile machinery, fiber composites, bio-hybrid & medical textiles. Each year, RWTH Aachen welcomes students from other universities wishing to put into practice the technical and scientific knowledge acquired in their studies. The research conducted at ITA is governed by EU research policies and federal initiatives but focuses on the overarching needs of society and technological trends.

Please view the Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) Research Areas. RWTH Aachen has roughly 150+ projects running throughout the year and are unfortunately not disclosed on their website. Students interested in a specific topic, please search for a particular project supervisor. If students are flexible from an assortment of research topics, please disclose them in your application and rank them accordingly.


Eligibility:
Students must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for this program:
  • Be enrolled at RMIT university; 
  • Completed at least two years of an engineering undergraduate program or one year of a postgraduate program; 
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Academic Credit:
Gain 24 credit points towards your degree by enrolling into MIET1106 - Industrial Placement Program.
For alternate enrolment, please contact your school/program coordinator. Students who have been approved for an alternate enrolment must complete a study plan.


Program Cost:
Participants will need to consider the following costs:
  • RMIT Tuition Fees
  • Host Institution Student Service Fee (approx 239.75 EUR)
  • Airfare
  • Host Country Visa
  • Accommodation
  • General living expenses
  • Health Insurance
  • Travel Insurance, if applicable

Travel Insurance
Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.

Application Process:
1. Apply for this program using the "Apply Now" button by 30 April 2019. You will need to submit the following documents:
(a) Letter of motivation including which research area you are interested in within the Institute of Textile Technology (ITA)
(b) Curriculum vitae (CV); 
(c) Most recent academic transcript (this can be obtained through Enrolment Online via MyRMIT)
2. Applications will be assessed by RMIT Global Experience Office. Applicants will be shortlisted and nominated on 21 May 2019 to RWTH Aachen and notified of the next steps. 
3. Selected candidates will receive an offer from RWTH Aachen sometime in June with instructions on how to apply for visas and how to arrange accommodation.
