We BUILD is a two-week program run by Global Citizens for Sustainable Development (GCSD) and Vedike. both non-government and not-for-profit organisations based in Bangalore, India. GCSD engages Indian and
international youth in development issues in India through providing internship, volunteer and study abroad
opportunities. Vedike works with underprivileged children and families in rural Bangalore. Vedike has been
engaging in rural community development initiatives, such as housing and sanitation projects, since 2010 and running a children’s home for at-risk boys since 2012. In June 2018, Vedike opened a co-educational school called Vedike Global School. Our goal is to provide affordable, quality education to children in rural Bangalore, where literacy rates are low and there are many marginalised communities.

During WE BUILD, students stay at Vedike and are engaged in construction projects to help underprivileged
children and families, alongside local skilled masons and labourers. Students also have the opportunity to
interact with the children living and studying at Vedike, visit homes and temples in the local village and spend one day exploring Bangalore city.
