Program details

Spend your semester break in snowy Sweden! The Faculty of Arts & Sciences and Faculty of Educational Sciences at Linköping University offer short-term courses in English for exchange students.
Short courses are offered during 3 periods: December-mid January, January and end of January-end of February. Students are welcome to study one, two or all three periods (only one course per period).
This short-term program will be particularly attractive to RMIT students with an elective, running during the Melbourne summer semester break, this will allow students to complete one or two electives or core courses outside the main semesters.

Period 1: 03 December to 18 January (aka Autumn)

Undergraduate courses
  • Intensive beginner’s course in Swedish 7.5ECTS
    • This course is intended for students with no previous knowledge of Swedish. It is a four-week course aiming to give students a basic knowledge of Swedish with an emphasis on oral skills.
Period 3: 21 January to 22 February (aka Spring)

Postgraduate courses Academic credit at RMIT
This is an opportunity for you to gain credit for your degree during the RMIT mid-semester break.
  • The exact credit will need to be discussed with your RMIT Program Manager. You will need to complete a study plan as part of your application as per the application process below.
  • 7.5ECTS is usually considered 12 RMIT credit points
NOTE: this program is part of a reciprocal exchange agreement; if selected you will enrol into EXTL placeholder courses for which you will pay tuition fees to RMIT.

Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.

Accommodation can be offered in furnished student rooms costing from approx. 3300 SEK/month (approx. $AU500). See here for more information.

Application and selection process
STEP 1: Discuss this opportunity with your RMIT School / Program Manager and seek study plan approval (See here for more information about seeking study plan approval.)
STEP 2: apply via Mobi by clicking the ‘Apply now’ button above by 24 September 2018
Your application must include:
  1. Academic Approval: your RMIT School-approved study plan. (See here for more information about seeking study plan approval.)
  2. A statement of purpose about why you want to participate in this program and how it will benefit you personally and academically.
STEP 3: Successful applicants will then be nominated to the host institution
STEP 4: If nominated, you will then be contacted by Global Experiences, who will advise you about the next stage of your application. You will need to complete an application to the host institution by 15 October 2018
