Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is a higher education institution in China, which enjoys a long history and a world-renowned reputation. Through 120 years of unrelenting effort, SJTU has become a comprehensive, research-oriented, and top international university in China. SJTU Summer Research Internship Program aims to promote international research collaboration and enhance of the academic environment at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It offers top undergraduate students from around the world the opportunity to spend a summer studying at world-class research laboratories, side-by-side with prominent research professors. It will prepare undergraduate students for further study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.

Program Cost:
The approximate cost of this program is $100.
This cost is associated with the non-refundable application fee.

Travel Insurance
Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.

Eligibility:
  • Enrolled in at RMIT
  • Completed at least one year of the program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
Academic Credit:
To be confirmed by your school. 

All research internship participants will be enrolled in 4 SJTU credits.  If you want to transfer them back to your academic program at RMIT, you must submit an approved study plan before departure (instructions on how to complete your study plan can be viewed here). 

SJTU Application / GEO registration process:
  1. Apply directly to SJTU by 30 April 2018
    • You will be required to submit the following:
      • Copy of your passport
      • Passport photo
      • CV/Resume
      • Copy of your most recent academic transcript
      • Motivation letter
      • Recommendation letter
         
  2. Successful applicants must register through this program page with the Global Experience Office (GEO) by 15 June 2018.
Funding:
Outstanding candidates may receive a scholarship of 7,200RMB (approximately AUD$1,500) provided by Shanghai JiaoTong University. 
  • Additional criteria for scholarships administered by SJTU
    • Minimum GPA of 3.4
    • Previous research experience.
