Paris Adaptive reuse 2018

Program Details
The Interior Design and Decoration 2018  study tour to Paris is a collaboration with FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) New York Interior Design Department in Paris to work on a joint project where students from both Universities work for a common resolution to an industry set brief. The tour is focusing on continued connections with overseas counterparts in the field of Interior design & decoration. After 2 successful years of visiting the USA – New York, we have now been invited to join FIT students on the 2nd study tour to Paris.

To collaborate with FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) Interior Design Department in Paris on a joint project where students from both Universities work for a common resolution to an industry set brief. The project is looking at the adaptive reuse of a factory into a cultural centre. Students are to complete a site inspection, sourcing of furniture, fixtures, and textiles to develop a concept for the project over a period of 10 working days & to present their collective concepts to the local council, an architectural firm & industry partners.
To attend design related shows and visit leaders within the field of decoration & design at their place of work, to attend showroom openings as the new seasons launch.
To visit the museums and galleries of Paris, and be immersed in the context of a dense urban environment. The students record, document and reflect on their experience to produce an individual memoir of the experience.
