The following optional study programme has been designed to enhance and enrich your current studies, but is not aligned to any assessments.
The aim of the programme is to broaden your fashion design and cultural understanding, providing first hand access to how fashion is taught in Paris and to Parisian fashion ateliers.
Ecole Supérieure Arts Appliqués Duperré in Paris will conduct activities on aspects of French fashion.
Staff and students from the Institutes postgraduate Diploma will lead Parisian lifestyle visits. RMIT students will also participate in visits to famous Maisons (probably Lesage) and institutions, for example: Musée Galliera and Musée des Arts Décoratifs. These visits will be accompanied by staff that will provide detailed commentary and guidance, to maximise the students fashion and cultural experience. There will also be activities and workshops in Duperré, with different topics/approaches considered, in responding to a design brief. A farewell activity will finish the study intensive with an opportunity for students across both institutions to reflect on their cultural and educational similarities and differences within a fashion design context.
