The Clinic Abroad program to Samoa commenced greater than 10 years ago.  Over the past 2 years the program has been positioned in Apia, Samoa where students provide chiropractic care to patients whilst adhering to the principles of best practice within the scope of university-learned skills.

The Clinic Abroad program is hosted by a business called Touch of Samoa whom provide staff to assist in scheduling of patients and translation (when necessary). All assessment and treatment will be fully supervised by an RMIT approved clinical supervisor and will contribute to clinical Work Integrated Learning requirements.  Students will be encouraged to use a variety of approaches and techniques taught at RMIT.

During the two-week Study Abroad program students gain clinical experience in undertaking evidence-based clinical assessment and management of patients under an experienced registered practitioner.  The clinical experience gained will enable further progression towards meeting the clinical requirements of the course whilst increasing cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Students will also work alongside local health workers building the capacity to work as a member of an inter-professional health team.
