Program Details:
This program offers senior undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to gain cutting-edge research experience in a wide variety of scientific fields. Participants will work with doctoral students, scientists or professors as part of on-going research projects at TU Dresden. As part of this research project program, extracurricular activities are designed specifically to introduce students to Germany and its culture. The activities range from events and tours that complement the academic program to a Language-Tandem-Opportunity program where participants will familiarise with one another and learn about each other's customs and cultural heritage.  

Placements are usually 2-4 months and start between May - September.

Academic Credit:
Gain up to 24 credit points by enrolling into MIET1106 - Industrial Placement Program

For alternate enrolment, please contact your school/program coordinator. Students who have been approved for an alternate enrolment must complete a study plan.


Successful applicants will complete a work plan and receive an official confirmation of attendance. Upon completion of the placement, participants will receive 4 ECTS credits per 4 weeks (8 ECTS for 8 weeks, 12 ECTS for 12 weeks), as well as a supervisor report on the project work that was conducted. Generally 7.5 ECTS = 12 RMIT credits. 

Eligibility:
Students must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for this program:
  • Be enrolled at RMIT University;
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Be studying Masters or in the 3rd year of their bachelor degree

Application Process:
1. Apply for this program using the "Apply Now" button by March 31, 2018. You will need to submit the following documents:
(a) Letter of motivation including the institute or chair where you would like to undertake your research

2. Applications will be assessed by RMIT Global Experience Office. Applicants will be shortlisted and nominated to TU Dresden and notified of their next steps.

3. TU Dresden will contact successful applicants with an Offer and information to arrange the details of their placement.

Program Cost:
Students will need to cover the following costs, but not limited to:
  • RMIT Tuition Fees
  • TU Dresden Semester Fee (150 - 250€ which covers the cost of public transport and reductions at the university canteen)
  • Airfare
  • Host Country Visa
  • Accommodation
  • General Living Expenses
  • Additional travel insurance 
  • Health Insurance
**Students are now covered by RMIT's Complementary Travel Insurance, although you may require additional coverage depending on your circumstances. For more information, please see here.

Funding:
TU Dresden will provide a monthly scholarship of 800€ to cover the following costs:
  • Accommodation (approximately 250€ per month)
  • Cost of Living (approximately 450€ per month)
  • Health Insurance (approximately 80€ per month)
  • Accident and Personal Liability Insurance (approximately 20€ per month)
  • Semester Fee Including Public Transport (260€ per semester)
  • One-Time Payment Travel Subsidy (600€)
