**Only students who have been accepted by Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences should register through this program.**
The Digital Society School Amsterdam conducts applied research together with partners from the creative industries and education. The focus of all the internship projects is the digital transformation of society. Interns work in multidisciplinary teams guided by experts from the industry and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. These experts are a mix of designers, programmers, social/digital media experts, researchers, copywriters and storytellers. This program allows interns to combine their professional research project and their strategic media project into one 20 week internship. The program is in English and interns will have one day a week to work individually on the documentation of their research and media projects.

Placements are for one semester and usually takes place between:
  • Spring Program: February - June 2018
  • Fall Program: September 2018 - January 2019

This program is open to final semester MC188 - Master of Media students.
If students from other disciplines are interested in this opportunity they will need to seek approval from their program coordinator.

Academic Credit:
Master of Media students must be enrolled in the following 2 x 24 credit point courses:
  • COMM2663 - Professional Research Project
  • COMM2683 - Strategic Media Project
RMIT staff will assess your Medialab project and research report as part of these courses. 

Students from other disciplines need to seek enrolment advice from their program coordinator.

Application Process:
  1. Apply directly to Digital Society School through the online application portal.
  • Applications must be submitted at least 2 months prior to the start of the program
    • Spring Deadline: 1 December 2017
    • Fall Deadline: 1 July 2018
  1. Applications will be assessed by Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Successful applicants will be contacted directly.
  2. Successful applicants will need to register through this program page. 
Master of Media students will enrol in COMM2663 Professional Research Project and COMM2683 Strategic Media Project but will complete their professional research project and their strategic media project within their MediaLAB internship. Their work will be assessed by the RMIT staff teaching COMM2786 and COMM2683 at the end of the MediaLAB semester.

Students will need to consider the following costs associated with this program:
  • RMIT tuition fee
  • Flights
  • Accommodation
  • Visas (if applicable)
  • Health insurance (if required by the host country/institution)
  • Personal expenditure (meals, activities, general living costs etc)
Please note: The Dutch government requires students to submit proof of their ability to financially support themselves (approx. 1,000 Euros per month) for the duration of the program. For a 20 week program, students will need to provide proof of approximately 5,000 Euros ($7,800 AUD). 

Successful applicants will receive a small stipend of 350 Euros per month, provided by Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
