PAPPET_BannerProgram Details:

Peer Alliance for Productive Professional Experience in Teaching (PAPPET) project places Australian pre-service teachers in schools in India for a credit bearing practicum. Student teachers will be allocated a local pre-service teacher (peer) to collaborate with. The PAPPET promotes intercultural understandings, collaboration among participants including school students, advancing pre-service teacher confidence and intercultural competencies. The 3 week placement also involves visits to educational settings and historic sites. This placement was offered in 2017 for the first time and 20 Australian Pre-Service teachers (10 students from RMIT and 10 students from Latrobe)  and 20 Pre-Service teachers from the Christ university successfully completed it.

Eligibility:
This program is open to third/fourth year Bachelor of Education students.

Academic Credit:
This program will be credited towards TCH2589 Cross Cultural Teaching and Learning (12 credit points).

Program Cost:
The approximate cost of this program is AU$1,200. This cost includes the following:
  • Accommodation
  • Introductory Lunch
  • Inaugural Lunch/Dinner
  • Valley School Visit
  • Mysore Trip

  • RMIT Tuition Fee
  • Flights
  • Personal Expenditure
  • Health Insurance (if applicable)
  • Vaccinations (if applicable)
  • Travel Insurance (if applicable)
** Students are now covered by RMIT’s travel insurance, although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances. For more info, please refer here.

Application Process:
  1. Register your participation for this program through this brochure page by 23 April 2018.
  2. Complete the following questionnaires:
    • Outbound Student Mobility: General Information
    • Short Term Mobility: General Information
      • Please submit a copy of the application documents that you had submitted to PAPPET
Cancellation Fee:
There is a cancellation fee of AU$300 for students who withdraw.

Funding:
For the Winter 2018 term, there are 15 x $3,000 New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants available to eligible Australian citizens enrolled in a bachelor/bachelor honours. 

There may be alternative ways to fund your trip. Please check the Scholarships website and Global Experience website for funding options.
