Aim Overseas is a third party provider who facilitates high quality overseas academic experiences. They have partnerships with overseas universities and organise all-inclusive global experience packages which include academic aspects, accommodation, logistical support, and cultural excursions.  

Their short-term programs may be attractive to RMIT students who wish to undertake a short term global experience in a specific location. For Summer 2018/19, AIM programs include:
  • Peruvian Biodiversity and Sustainability (Universidad Andina del Cusco / Cusco, Peru)
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship in San Francisco (San Francisco State University, USA)
  • The Ethical & Business Impacts of Artificial Intelligence: Today and in the Future (Algebra University College, Croatia)
  • Media and Communication for the Fashion Industry, (European Institute of Design, Italy) 
  • Robotics: Real-Life Applications of Intelligent Designs (Riga Technical University, Latvia)

Academic credit at RMIT
This is an opportunity for you to gain credit for your degree during the RMIT semester break.
  • The exact credit will need to be discussed with your RMIT Program Coordinator. You will need to complete a study plan as part of your RMIT registration as per the process below.
 NOTE: this is a ‘study abroad’ opportunity; if selected you will enrol into EXTL placeholder courses for which you will not pay tuition fees to RMIT.

These are fee-paying programs, and costs vary depending on location and academic outcomes. Please investigate individual programs for a breakdown of costs.
 
** Travel insurance:
Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.

Application and RMIT registration process
STEP 1: Apply directly to Aim Overseas for the program you are interested in by 17 September 2018
STEP 2: Successful applicants will then register via Mobi by clicking the ‘Apply now’ button above
Your Questionnaires must include:
  1. Academic Approval: your RMIT school-approved study plan. See here for more information about seeking study plan approval. (If you are wishing to seek RMIT credit)
  2. Your Aim Overseas acceptance letter
STEP 3: You will then be prompted to complete RMIT’s Pre-departure requirements via Mobi

Funding
There may be alternative ways to fund your trip. Please check the Scholarships website and Global Experience website for funding options.
