Friday, 12th October study tour members arrive in Barcelona
13 -14th October Free weekend to explore Barcelona
Monday, 15th October Welcome, Sessions on European research, technology translation, technology transfer, science in industry and scientific outreach (RMIT Europe)
Tuesday, 16th October scientific and cultural visits
Wednesday 17th October scientific and cultural visits
Thursday 18th October fly to Berlin 
Friday 19th October scientific and cultural visits
20 -21st October Free weekend to explore Berlin
Monday 22nd October scientific and cultural visits
Tuesday 23rd October professional development and wrap up
Wednesday 24th October study tour members depart
 
Program cost
The School of Science will pay for:
  • All accommodation (including breakfast)
  • All ground transport during programmed visits and tours
  • All programmed visits and tours
  • Lunches on programmed days
  • Dinners on programmed evening
  • internal flight from Barcelona to Berlin 
Candidates will pay for:
  • Melbourne <--> Europe airfares*
  • food on non-programmed days
  • dinners on non-programmed evenings
  • any side trips or other activities outside the official program
  • any visa costs
* Airfares can be paid for from any of the following:
  • Your school HDR support funds
  • Supervisor Research Funds (if they approve)
  • SGR travel grant (if successful)
  • Private funds.
  • Airfares must be booked through the RMIT travel system (Trobexis) which will then cover travel insurance. The HDR team will help with organizing the travel.
Candidates are encouraged to combine the HDR tour with appropriate conferences, visits to research labs or other facilities, and/or private travel. The School will not cover any of the costs associated with these activities.

Additional costs to consider:
  • Host Country Visa (if applicable)
  • Personal Expenditure
  • Additional travel insurance coverage
Travel insurance:
Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.
