Fudan International Winter Session (FIWS) is held by School Of Economics, Fudan University, offering courses in Finance, Economics, Chinese Culture and Society. All courses are taught by experienced professors and lecturers from Fudan University. FIWS will arrange various activities, providing students with opportunities to have intercultural communication and real experience of China's rapid economic development.

FIWS Courses:
Each course is designed as 54 credit hours, which equals 3 Fudan credits. After successful completion of the course study, students will be awarded a program certificate and an official Fudan transcript. Students who wish to transfer course credits back to their home institutions are advised to consult with the appropriate academic authorities at their own institutions in advance.

Activities:
1. Company visit: Baosteel
Bao Steel located in Baoshan District of Shanghai.
  • A typical enterprise arising from China’s reform and opening
  • Set up in 1978
  • By the end of 2014, Baosteel had a workforce of 130,000 spreading all over the globe.
  • Export to more than 40 countries and regions
2. Field trip/s: Suzhou, Hangzhou
3. Cultural experience: making shanghai dumplings, Chinese paintings, Chinese calligraphy, martial arts, tea ceremony
4. Lectures from business elites

Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.

Academic Credit at RMIT:
This is an opportunity for you to gain credit for your degree during the RMIT semester break.
  • The exact credit will need to be discussed with your RMIT Academic Area. You will need to complete a study plan as part of your application as per the application process below.
  • 3 Fudan credits is considered approximate to 12 RMIT credit points
NOTE: if approved to receive academic credit you will enrol into study abroad EXTL placeholder courses for which you will pay not tuition fees to RMIT.

Application and Registration process:
  1. Discuss this opportunity with your RMIT Academic area. Seek study plan approval about where this will fit in your RMIT program structure. 
  2. Apply directly to Fudan University, School of Economics (FIWS) here
  3. Upon acceptance from FIWS, register through Mobi by 07 Dec 2018. Registrations must include:
    • confirmation/acceptance letter from Fudan University, School of Economics
    • Your RMIT school-approved study plan (if you are claiming academic credits)
  4. The RMIT Global Experience Office (GEO) will review and process your registration, and provide you with additional information such as predeparture.
Funding:
