Program details:
Program Leader: Dr Josephine Ng
Dates: 11 - 27 October 2018
Available places: maximum 10 PG students and 5 UG students

In collaboration with top ranking Chinese university, Central China Normal University [CCNU] and the Australian Education Management Group [AEMG], 10 internship scholarships will be offered to RMIT students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, GD 108 program. The scholarships offered by AEMG aim to provide rich and meaningful cultural learning experiences for RMIT School of Education and CCNU students. Overseas placement in early childhood centres in Wuhan, China promotes interactions and rich sharing with the centre mentor, children and teachers. Successful applicants will be placed at approved Chinese kindergartens or childcare centres for 2 weeks professional experience in Wuhan, China. The AEMG scholarship is for Australian citizens and covers 2 weeks accommodation, meals, educational tour and placement arrangement in approved Chinese kindergarten/ centre in Wuhan, China. 

For undergraduate students eligible for New Colombo Plan (NCP), you will receive AUD $3000 to help cover costs such as flights, accommodation, meals and others.

Tentative itinerary (details to be confirmed by program leader):
11 Oct: Arrive in Wuhan
12 Oct: Cultural understanding program
15 to 18 Oct: Placement at CCNU kindergarten
19 Oct : Visits to other centres / edu tours
20 to 21 Oct: Free
22 to 25 Oct: Placement
26 Oct: Visits to centres / edu tours
27 Oct : Depart

Academic Credit:
  • Postgraduate studnets:
    • TCHE2558 Educational Leadership and Management in GD108 program

Program Cost:
  • Approximate cost of this program will be around AU$ 3000:
    • Flights : $1000 ( cost $1000, the school of education provides a subsidy for all students (domestic and international (self funded category)
    • Accommodation and meals: $1500 (Scholarships for Australian citizens only)
    • Transport: 0 (walking distance to campus, other transport for leisure at student expense
    • Visa: $200
    • Others $500

  • Additional travel insurance coverage
Travel insurance:
Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.

  • After the registration deadline, the program leader will in contact to provide you with additional information and instructions related your predeparture to China.
Please check with the program leader directly regarding funding available for this program: AEMG scholarships, NCP mobility grants and Global Experience mobility grants.
