Program Details:

Vietnam Intercultural Teaching Experience (VITE) is a New Colombo Plan funded teaching placement offered in Vietnam for undergraduate students at the School of Education. This program is offered as an elective course titled "Cross Cultural Teaching and Learning" and selected students will be placed in a primary school in Vietnam for two weeks to experience and engage in teaching.

Proposed Itinerary (final itinerary will be confirmed by program leader closer to departure):
11 November - Arrival at Silverland Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City
12 November - Program Induction at the RMIT Campus - Ho Chi Minh City & visit to the Australian International School (AIS)
13 to 16 November - Placement activities at the AIS
17 November -  Cultural event/visits 
18 November -  free Sunday for cultural explorations in Ho Chi Minh City
19 to 23 November - Placement activities at the AIS
24 November - End of the program and departure from the Silverland Hotel

Only students enrolled in BP046 Bachelor of Education Program

Academic Credit:
Selected students can gain credit towards TCHE 2589 Cross Cultural Teaching and Learning (12 credit points).

Program Cost:
The approximate cost of this program is US $300 (~AU $420).

  • Additional travel insurance coverage
Travel Insurance:
Students on approved overseas activities receive complimentary travel insurance (policy number: 41443), although you may require additional cover depending on your circumstances.

Only selected students for the program will register with the Global Experience Office through this page. You will need to complete the following:
  • Outbound Student Mobility: General Information
  • Short Term Mobility: General Information
    • upload a copy of your valid "Working with Children Check" card under Section 5. Additional Supporting Info and/or Documents 
  • ?Short Term Mobility: Funding Options
For Spring 2018, there are 10 x $3000 New Colombo Plan mobility grants available.

There may be alternative ways to fund your trip. Please check the Scholarships website and Global Experience website for funding options.
